Sometimes

Sometimes

Sometimes I feel I can reach out

And touch the deepest pain of this world

Not the surface aching

Nor the catastrophic ache

It is the pain of indifference

Neglecting a moment that has gone

The moment that would have been –

If only we had noticed –

Something wonderful, significant,

profound or simply joyful

The pain of this world is not bound up

in the misery that we can see

The pain of this world is in the beauty and wonder

of life that go unnoticed
